Christian eventually took off with eight of the crew and 20 Tahitians for Pitcairn Island, where they set up a paradisial home... this island turned out to be a not-so-pacific paradise. Breadfruit is one of Jon Rose's ironic musical fables, in which strains from the 'original' Bounty violin, songs sung in a mix of ancient Tahitian and 18th century English vernacular, tirades from a radio shock-jock... all combine with an original musical score to create a whimsical history of the Bounty Mutineers. The ABC/UTS Radiophonic Collection is an initiative of the Creative Radio Consortium.Title from disc label.
